the story of carlos vargas
I was 8 years old when I was assigned my first creative writing piece. Would you believe me if I told you I wrote about how much I hate writing? From there, the rest was history.
My next piece would be a superhero story about “Pablo the Superhero” who fought off my bullies (which I never shared with anyone until right now...). At age 10, I would journal my life as if I was the main character in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. At age 17, I would write song lyrics to songs I had no idea how to create. Through all this I convinced myself I hated writing, but fast forward to age 24 and it turns out that’s exactly what I want to do.
I learned writing was one way to make all these out-worldy thoughts of mine come to life and that’s when I fell in love with the craft. I know I’ve done something right when people question “How did you even think of that?”.
When i’m not writing about the world inside my brain, I’m usually spending my days at the park soaking in nature, at the gym destroying every last piece of muscle fiber I have (in a healthy way of course), or just skating around listening to music.
